Essay Example
FCE Writing Part 1 – Essay
You have attended a panel discussion on ways to encourage people to live a healthier lifestyle. You have made the notes below.
Write an essay for your teacher discussing two of the ways in your notes. You must include your own idea and give reasons for your point of view.
Notes:
– Government campaigns
– Healthier food prices
– (Your own idea)
Write your essay in 140–190 words.
In recent times, the debate surrounding effective healthy lifestyle strategies has gained significant traction. It is clear that a proactive, multi-faceted approach is required since obesity is rising globally. This essay aims to explore three key aspects of this issue.
One key consideration is the influence of government campaigns. These initiatives are crucial for raising public awareness about poor diet and sedentary life. To illustrate this point, social media campaigns could clearly demonstrate long-term health benefits to young people.
Furthermore, the high cost of nutritious food is often cited as a major barrier. It appears that healthy food prices should be lowered through subsidies to make them affordable for everyone. On the other hand, unhealthy options could be discouraged through taxation.
A final aspect to consider is the investment in more accessible sports facilities. Easier and cheaper access to pools and gyms would directly encourage physical activity. For instance, local councils could organise free fitness classes in public parks.
To sum up, while campaigns are a good starting point, change needs a combined strategy. Taking everything into account, I firmly believe accessibility and affordability are key to successfully creating a truly healthy society.
Writing an essay for FCE Writing Task 1 doesn’t have to be stressful if you know and follow the right strategy.
